North Carolina High School Basketball - Avery County overwhelms Madison

January 9, 2025: Marshall, NC 28753

The Avery County Vikings basketball team scored 59 points and limited the host Madison Patriots to 35 in the Vikings league triumph on Thursday.

The Vikings now have a 10-3 record. They play next when they travel to Owen for a 1A/2A Western Highlands game on Monday, January 13. Avery County will confront a Warhorses team coming off a 31-24 league win over NCSSM: Morganton (Morganton, NC). The Warhorses record now stands at 2-11.

With the loss, Madison falls to 3-10 on the campaign. The Patriots host Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC) to confront the Cougars in a 1A/2A Western Highlands game on Tuesday, January 14. The Cougars go into the game with a record of 10-2. Mountain Heritage won 58-35 in their recent league game against Mitchell (Bakersville, NC)
