The Eureka Hornets held off the host Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs volleyball team by a score of 2-1 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Hornets now have a 17-6 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Illinois Valley Central for a non-league test on Saturday, October 1. Eureka will confront a Grey Ghosts team coming off a 2-0 non-league win over Peoria (Peoria, IL). The Grey Ghosts record now stands at 15-1.
The Chiefs (7-14) will now prepare for their test against Sacred Heart-Griffin (Springfield, IL). The Cyclones enter the non-league test with a 9-11 record. In their last test, Sacred Heart-Griffin was nudged by Normal University (Normal, IL), 2-0, in a league test.
