The Eureka Hornets held off the host Deer Creek-Mackinaw Chiefs volleyball team by a score of 2-1 in Tuesday's league test.
The Hornets now have a 18-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Farmington for a non-league test on Saturday, October 8. Eureka will confront a Farmers team coming off a 2-1 league loss to Lewistown (Lewistown, IL). The Farmers record now stands at 3-15.
The Chiefs (7-16) will now prepare for their test against El Paso-Gridley (El Paso, IL). The Titans enter the Heart of Illinois test with a 20-4 record. In their last test, El Paso-Gridley was nudged by Tri-Valley (Downs, IL), 2-0, in a league test.
