Escambia Academy Cougars (Atmore, AL) supporters were in high spirits Tuesday as they observed their volleyball team hold off the visiting Pensacola Area Homeschool Phoenix (Pensacola, FL), 2-1 in a non-league contest.
Next, the Phoenix battle the JV Opponent (, ) in a non-league contest, on Thursday, October 3. Pensacola Area Homeschool will attempt to move on its 12-9 season record.
Match Summary
In our second opportunity vs the Cougars, our JV team got closer to a victory, but couldn't quite pull one off. It was a low-energy affair on both sides of the net, in a warm gym, and our JV girls weren't able to really get moving on the court. Strong serving by Miley and Madison powered us to a 2nd set victory, but we fell short in the tiebreaker, despite a late-set serving surge by Sophie. Overall, we struggled with serving, which probably ended up making the difference in the game, since neither side was putting up much offensive pressure.
