Fans at Tuesday's league contest between the Gates County Red Barons (Gatesville, NC) and the host Tarboro Vikings (Tarboro, NC), observed Gates County's volleyball team top Tarboro by a tally of 3-0.

The Red Barons (8-9) will now prepare for their contest against Washington County (Plymouth, NC). The Panthers enter the Four Rivers 1A contest with a 1-6 record. In their last contest, Washington County was beaten by Perquimans (Hertford, NC), 3-0, in a league contest.

Next, the Vikings meet the Perquimans Pirates (Hertford, NC) in a Four Rivers 1A contest, on Thursday, October 3. Tarboro will attempt to upgrade on its 0-14 season record. The Pirates enter the contest with a 16-1 record after their 3-0 league win over Washington County (Plymouth, NC).
