The Laney Buccaneers soccer squad scored 4 points and held the host Topsail Pirates to 1 in the Buccaneers league victory on Thursday.

The Buccaneers now hold a 16-3 record. They play next when they host New Hanover for a Carolina Coast 6A/7A/8A bout on Thursday, October 23.

With the loss, Topsail moves to 8-8 on the year. The Pirates host North Brunswick (Leland, NC) to face the Scorpions in a Carolina Coast 6A/7A/8A challenge on Monday, October 20. The Scorpions go into the challenge with a record of 7-12. North Brunswick lost 1-0 in their recent league challenge against West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC)
