The James River Knights held off the host Patrick County Cougars volleyball team by a score of 2-1 in Tuesday's non-league test.

The Knights now have a 12-6 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Glenvar for a non-league test on Thursday, October 19. James River will confront a Highlanders team coming off a 2-0 non-league win over Alleghany (Covington, VA). The Highlanders record now stands at 9-9.

The Cougars (11-7) will now prepare for their test against Martinsville (Martinsville, VA). The Bulldogs enter the non-league test with a 2-10 record. In their last test, Martinsville was nudged by Magna Vista (Ridgeway, VA), 2-0, in a non-league test.
