Fans at Wednesday's league battle between the West Stokes Wildcats (King, NC) and the host McMichael Phoenix (Mayodan, NC), saw West Stokes's soccer squad hold off McMichael by a count of 3-2.

The Wildcats (7-2) will now prepare for their battle against North Forsyth (Winston-Salem, NC). The Vikings enter the Mid-State 2A battle with a 7-4 record.

Next up, the Phoenix battle the North Forsyth Vikings (Winston-Salem, NC) in a Mid-State 2A battle, on Monday, October 7. McMichael will attempt to upgrade on its 6-3 season record. The Vikings enter the battle with a 7-4 record after their 8-0 league win over Morehead (Eden, NC).
