The Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes softball team scored 9 runs and held the visiting Jefferson Dragons to 1 in the Purple Hurricanes league win on Wednesday.

The Purple Hurricanes now possess a 18-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to West Hall for a 3A Region 8 battle on Thursday, October 3. Monroe Area will confront a Spartans team coming off a 10-6 non-league win over Chestatee (Gainesville, GA). The Spartans record now stands at 5-21.

With the loss, Jefferson moves to 16-10 on the season. The Dragons host Cherokee Bluff (Flowery Branch, GA) to confront the Bears in a 3A Region 8 battle on Thursday, October 3. The Bears come into the battle with a record of 19-5. Cherokee Bluff won 11-0 in their recent league battle against West Hall (Oakwood, GA)
