The Polk County Slammers edged the visiting Pierce Bluejays softball squad by a count of 12-11 in Thursday's non-league challenge.

Next, the Slammers play the Kearney Catholic Stars (Kearney, NE) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, October 6. Polk County will attempt to upgrade on its 5-20 season record. The Stars enter the challenge with a 23-5 record after their 12-2 league win over Southern Valley/Alma (Oxford, NE).
