Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC) boosters exited the stadium in high spirits Monday as they observed their soccer squad nudge the visiting South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC), 2-1 in a league outing.

The Patriots (5-13) will now prepare for their outing against Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC). The Cougars go into the Northwestern 6A/7A outing with a 12-5 record. In their last outing, Alexander Central was edged by Watauga (Boone, NC), 4-0, in a league outing.

The Spartans now have a 4-9 record. They take the field next when they travel to St. Stephens for a Northwestern 6A/7A test on Wednesday, October 22. South Caldwell will clash with a Indians team coming off a 3-2 league loss to McDowell (Marion, NC). The Indians record now stands at 1-16.
