The crowd at Tuesday's league bout between the Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA) and the host George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA), saw Giles's volleyball squad beat George Wythe by a tally of 3-1.

With the win, Giles upgrades its record to 12-2 on the year. The Spartans host Galax (Galax, VA) to play the Maroon Tide in a Mountain Empire bout on Thursday, October 5. The Maroon Tide go into the bout with a record of 6-8. Galax lost 3-0 in their recent non-league bout against Alleghany (Sparta, NC)

The Maroons now own a 5-9 record. They play next when they host Bland County for a Mountain Empire bout on Thursday, October 5. George Wythe will play a Bears squad coming off a 3-0 league loss to Auburn (Riner, VA). The Bears record now stands at 11-4.
