In Thursday's league battle, the host Giles Spartans volleyball team scored a 3-0 triumph over the George Wythe Maroons.
The Spartans (6-0) will now prepare for their battle against Glenvar (Salem, VA). The Highlanders come into the non-league battle with a 2-4 record. In their last battle, Glenvar went down by Carroll County (Hillsville, VA), 3-1, in a league battle.
Next, the Maroons encounter the Auburn Eagles (Riner, VA) in a Mountain Empire battle, on Saturday, September 9. George Wythe will attempt to move on its 3-3 season record. The Eagles come into the battle with a 6-1 record after their 3-1 league win over Bland County (Rocky Gap, VA).
