Marshall Mavericks (Marshall, TX) boosters left the game thrilled Friday as they saw their volleyball squad hold off the host Nacogdoches Dragons (Nacogdoches, TX), 3-2 in a league challenge.

The Mavericks (23-12) will now prepare for their challenge against Hallsville (Hallsville, TX). The Bobcats enter the 5A Region II District 10 challenge with a 25-9 record. In their last challenge, Hallsville got by Jacksonville (Jacksonville, TX), 3-0, in a league challenge.

Next, the Dragons meet the Lufkin Panthers (Lufkin, TX) in a 5A Region II District 10 challenge, on Tuesday, October 7. Nacogdoches will attempt to upgrade on its 7-23 season record. The Panthers enter the challenge with a 29-8 record after their 3-0 league win over Whitehouse (Whitehouse, TX).
