The Miners now have a 9-14 record. They put it on the line next when they host Carlinville for a South Central challenge on Tuesday, October 10. Gillespie will encounter a Cavaliers team coming off a 2-1 non-league loss to Staunton (Staunton, IL). The Cavaliers record now stands at 17-9.

Next, the Piasa Birds encounter the Vandalia Vandals (Vandalia, IL) in a South Central challenge, on Tuesday, October 10. Southwestern will attempt to move on its 2-24 season record. The Vandals enter the challenge with a 5-22 record after their 2-0 non-league loss to St. Anthony (Effingham, IL).
