The Gillespie Miners topped the host Southwestern Piasa Birds volleyball team by a score of 2-0 in Thursday's league test.

The Miners now have a 2-10 record. They put it on the line next when they host Mt. Olive for a non-league test on Tuesday, October 3.

The Piasa Birds (1-18) will now prepare for their test against Roxana (Roxana, IL). The Shells enter the Cahokia (Mississippi Division) test with a 6-8 record. In their last test, Roxana was knocked off by Salem (Salem, IL), 2-1, in a league test.
