Fans at Tuesday's non-league contest between the Independence Patriots (Coal City, WV) and the visiting Greenbrier West Cavaliers (Charmco, WV), observed Independence's volleyball team hold off Greenbrier West by a count of 3-2.

The Patriots (10-16) will now prepare for their contest against Westside (Clear Fork, WV). The Renegades enter the Coalfield AA contest with a 3-10 record. In their last contest, Westside was tipped by Liberty (Glen Daniel, WV), 2-0, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Cavaliers encounter the Greenbrier East Spartans (Lewisburg, WV) in a non-league battle, on Tuesday, October 14. Greenbrier West will attempt to improve on its 10-16 season record. The Spartans go into the battle with a 13-9 record after their 2-0 league loss to Herbert Hoover (Elkview, WV).
