The Amherst County Lancers (Amherst, VA) basketball nipped the host Nelson County Governors (Lovingston, VA), 40-37 in Tuesday's non-league test.

The Lancers (1-0) will now prepare for their test against Staunton (Staunton, VA). The Storm go into the non-league test with a 0-1 record. In their last test, Staunton was tipped by Harrisonburg (Harrisonburg, VA), 71-70, in a non-league test.

The Governors now own a 0-1 record. They play next when they host Buffalo Gap for a non-league test on Wednesday, November 29. Nelson County will encounter a Bison squad coming off a 41-36 non-league win over Bath County (Hot Springs, VA). The Bison record now stands at 1-0.
