Swain County Maroon Devils (Bryson City, NC) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Smoky Mountain Mustangs (Sylva, NC), 23-20 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Swain County upgrades its record to 1-1 on the season. The Maroon Devils travel to Hayesville (Hayesville, NC) to play the Yellowjackets in a non-league bout on Friday, December 15. The Yellowjackets go into the bout with a record of 0-0.

Next up, the Mustangs play the Pisgah Bears (Canton, NC) in a bout, on Friday, December 15. Smoky Mountain will attempt to upgrade on its 5-2 season record. The Bears go into the bout with a 4-1 record after their 51-39 non-league win over Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC).
