Ishpeming Hematites (Ishpeming, MI) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Westwood Patriots (Ishpeming, MI), 61-41 in a league bout.

With the win, Ishpeming upgrades its record to 3-1 on the season. The Hematites host Calumet (Calumet, MI) to clash with the Copper Kings in a Western Peninsula bout on Thursday, December 15. The Copper Kings go into the bout with a record of 3-1. Calumet lost 45-39 in their recent league bout against Hancock (Hancock, MI)

Next up, the Patriots clash with the Manistique Emeralds (Manistique, MI) in a non-league bout, on Friday, December 16. Westwood will attempt to upgrade on its 1-2 season record. The Emeralds go into the bout with a 1-2 record after their 56-26 non-league win over Engadine (Engadine, MI).
