The Giles Spartans basketball team (Pearisburg, VA), was overwhelmed 69-43 in Tuesday's league battle with the visiting Auburn Eagles (Riner, VA)
The Eagles now possess a 2-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host Bland County for a Mountain Empire battle on Friday, December 15. Auburn will confront a Bears team coming off a 47-31 non-league loss to Rural Retreat (Rural Retreat, VA). The Bears record now stands at 3-2.
The Spartans (2-2) will now prepare for their battle against George Wythe (Wytheville, VA). The Maroons come into the Mountain Empire battle with a 4-0 record. In their last battle, George Wythe trounced J.I. Burton (Norton, VA), 50-41, in a non-league battle.
