In Friday's non-league contest, the host West Rutland Golden Horde basketball team scored a big 71-38 win over the Mill River Minutemen.
The Golden Horde (1-0) will now prepare for their contest against Grace Christian (Bennington, VT). The Lions come into the Southern Vermont - D contest with a 1-0 record. In their last contest, Grace Christian smashed Long Trail (Dorset, VT), 52-50, in a league contest.
