The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Pontotoc Warriors (Pontotoc, MS) and the visiting Lafayette Commodores (Oxford, MS), observed Pontotoc's basketball team overwhelm Lafayette by a score of 73-40.

The Warriors (8-1) will now prepare for their challenge against New Hope (Columbus, MS). The Trojans come into the 5A Region 1 challenge with a 7-1 record. In their last challenge, New Hope trounced West Point (West Point, MS), 63-27, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Commodores encounter the Regents Lions (Oxford, MS) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, December 14. Lafayette will attempt to improve on its 6-5 season record. The Lions come into the challenge with a 2-3 record after their 48-34 league loss to DeSoto (West Helena, AR).
