The Bland County Bears basketball team (Rocky Gap, VA), was overwhelmed 78-46 in Wednesday's league battle with the visiting Auburn Eagles (Riner, VA)

The Eagles now possess a 5-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to George Wythe for a Mountain Empire battle on Friday, December 16. Auburn will battle a Maroons team coming off a 92-37 league win over Giles (Pearisburg, VA). The Maroons record now stands at 3-0.

The Bears (5-2) will now prepare for their battle against Galax (Galax, VA). The Maroon Tide come into the Mountain Empire battle with a 0-3 record. In their last battle, Galax was overwhelmed by Carroll County (Hillsville, VA), 60-56, in a non-league battle.
