Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Hiwassee Dam Eagles (Murphy, NC) and the visiting Highlands Highlanders (Highlands, NC), saw Hiwassee Dam's basketball squad hold off Highlands by a count of 68-64.

With the victory, Hiwassee Dam upgrades its record to 2-5 on the campaign. The Eagles host Madison (Marshall, NC) to play the Patriots in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, December 27. The Patriots come into the challenge with a record of 3-5. Madison won 69-64 in their recent league challenge against Mitchell (Bakersville, NC)

Next up, the Highlanders play the Murphy Bulldogs (Murphy, NC) in a 1A Smoky Mountain challenge, on Monday, December 18. Highlands will attempt to upgrade on its 2-8 season record. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a 3-1 record after their 67-60 league loss to Robbinsville (Robbinsville, NC).
