Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Newport Greyhounds (Newport, AR) and the visiting Cave City Cavemen (Cave City, AR), saw Newport's basketball squad hold off Cave City by a tally of 39-36.
With the victory, Newport improves its record to 3-9 on the campaign. The Greyhounds travel to Batesville (Batesville, AR) to confront the Pioneers in a non-league challenge on Monday, December 18. The Pioneers come into the challenge with a record of 5-5. Batesville won 73-66 in their recent non-league challenge against Harrison (Harrison, AR)
Next up, the Cavemen confront the Melbourne Bearkatz (Melbourne, AR) in a 3A Region 2 challenge, on Tuesday, January 2. Cave City will attempt to improve on its 5-6 season record.
