The Legacy Longhorns basketball team (North Las Vegas, NV), was nudged 40-39 in Saturday's non-league battle with the host Cimarron-Memorial Spartans (Las Vegas, NV)
The Spartans now possess a 2-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Canyon Springs for a non-league battle on Monday, December 18.
The Longhorns (2-1) will now prepare for their battle against Chaparral (Las Vegas, NV). The Cowboys come into the non-league battle with a 1-0 record.
First Quarter
The Spartans got off to a solid start by playing excellent defense & controlling the tempo. The team was moving the ball well, & took a 10 to 2 lead early. At the end of the Quarter the score was 10 to 7.
Second Quarter
The Spartans continued to play sound defense as Dante Robinson shut down #21 for Legacy who scored 39 points vs the Spartans in the previous contest
Third Quarter
The teams continued to go back & forth in a very competitive rematch.
Fourth Quarter
As the 4th Quarter came to a close in the final minutes the Spartans lost their lead for the 1st time, when Coach Shkorupa substituted in Waco Pedroza & told him " get your feet set, & you have the green light". After advancing the ball through Legacy's pressure Defense Waco caught a pass on the Right Wing & pulled up and buried a 3 Point Shot. In the closing minute Mahshad Jordan attacked the basket & tied the game sending it to over time.
Overtime
As each Team continued to battle back & forth the final moments came down to Mahshad Jordan being fouled & with only 2 seconds remaining her sunk two Free Throws giving The Spartans a 40 to 39 lead. Legacy threw a 80 foot pass which was picked off by Joseph Noel to seal the Victory.
