Highlands Highlanders (Highlands, NC) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Murphy Bulldogs (Murphy, NC), 34-28 in a league bout.
With the win, Highlands upgrades its record to 1-10 on the season. The Highlanders host Hayesville (Hayesville, NC) to play the Yellowjackets in a 1A Smoky Mountain bout on Thursday, December 21. The Yellowjackets go into the bout with a record of 5-3. Hayesville lost 67-21 in their recent league bout against Cherokee (Cherokee, NC)
Next up, the Bulldogs play the Swain County Maroon Devils (Bryson City, NC) in a 1A Smoky Mountain bout, on Tuesday, December 19. Murphy will attempt to upgrade on its 0-4 season record. The Maroon Devils go into the bout with a 3-4 record after their 43-29 league loss to Hayesville (Hayesville, NC).
