Sussex Central Tigers (Sussex, VA) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Surry County Cougars (Dendron, VA), 41-27 in a league bout.

With the win, Sussex Central upgrades its record to 4-3 on the season. The Tigers host Greensville County (Emporia, VA) to clash with the Eagles in a Tri-Rivers bout on Monday, January 8. The Eagles go into the bout with a record of 7-0.

Next up, the Cougars clash with the Mathews Blue Devils (Mathews, VA) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, December 23. Surry County will attempt to upgrade on its 1-6 season record. The Blue Devils go into the bout with a 1-7 record after their 69-59 league win over West Point (West Point, VA).
