The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Minnewaska Area Lakers (Glenwood, MN) and the visiting Melrose Dutchmen (Melrose, MN), observed Minnewaska Area's basketball team overcome Melrose by a margin of 61-45.

The Lakers (6-2) will now prepare for their bout against Pipestone (Pipestone, MN). The Arrows go into the AA Section 3 bout with a 1-6 record. In their last bout, Pipestone fell by Marshall (Marshall, MN), 68-47, in a non-league bout.

With the loss, Melrose falls to 2-5 on the campaign. The Dutchmen host Litchfield (Litchfield, MN) to play the Dragons in a non-league bout on Friday, December 27. The Dragons go into the bout with a record of 1-7. Litchfield won 64-57 in their recent non-league bout against Dassel-Cokato (Cokato, MN)
