Sparta Spartans (Sparta, NJ) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Chatham Cougars (Chatham, NJ), 71-57 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Sparta upgrades its record to 3-0 on the season. The Spartans travel to Montville (Montville, NJ) to clash with the Mustangs in a Northwest Jersey - National bout on Friday, December 23. The Mustangs go into the bout with a record of 4-0. Montville won 57-33 in their recent league bout against Morris Hills (Rockaway, NJ)

Next up, the Cougars clash with the Pope John XXIII (Sparta, NJ) in a non-league bout, on Friday, December 23. Chatham will attempt to upgrade on its 3-1 season record. The go into the bout with a 3-1 record after their 56-23 non-league win over Columbia (Maplewood, NJ).
