Bland County Bears (Rocky Gap, VA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Galax Maroon Tide (Galax, VA), 61-51 in a league bout.

With the victory, Bland County upgrades its record to 3-7 on the campaign. The Bears host Rural Retreat (Rural Retreat, VA) to play the Indians in a non-league bout on Friday, December 29. The Indians come into the bout with a record of 4-4.

Next up, the Maroon Tide play the West Stokes Wildcats (King, NC) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, December 28. Galax will attempt to upgrade on its 3-2 season record. The Wildcats come into the bout with a 9-3 record after their 78-55 non-league win over North Stokes (Danbury, NC).
