The Shepaug Valley Spartans basketball team scored 87 points and restricted the visiting Thomaston Bears to 65 in the Spartans league victory on Friday.

The Spartans now sport a 2-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Coginchaug Regional for a non-league contest on Wednesday, December 27. Shepaug Valley will battle a Blue Devils team coming off a 77-52 league win over Old Saybrook (Old Saybrook, CT). The Blue Devils record now stands at 4-0.

The Bears (1-2) will now prepare for their contest against Brookfield (Brookfield, CT). The Bobcats come into the non-league contest with a 4-1 record. In their last contest, Brookfield triumphed over East Hampton (East Hampton, CT), 64-53, in a non-league contest.
