In Saturday's non-league contest, the visiting Long Beach Bearcats basketball team scored a good 33-19 win over the Gautier Gators.

The Bearcats (5-13) will now prepare for their contest against Hancock (Kiln, MS). The Hawks come into the 6A Region 4 contest with a 14-1 record. In their last contest, Hancock defeated Gulfport (Gulfport, MS), 42-25, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Gators battle the Vancleave Bulldogs (Vancleave, MS) in a 5A Region 4 contest, on Friday, January 3. Gautier will attempt to better on its 2-16 season record. The Bulldogs come into the contest with a 4-10 record after their 58-23 league loss to Wayne County (Waynesboro, MS).
