The Newton-Conover Red Devils basketball team (Newton, NC), was toppled 47-32 in Thursday's non-league battle with the visiting Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC)

The Cougars now possess a 8-4 record. They put it on the line next when they host Ashe County for a 3A/4A Conference 52 battle on Friday, January 6.

The Red Devils (6-6) will now prepare for their battle against East Burke (Connelly Springs, NC). The Cavaliers come into the 2A Conference 45 battle with a 1-8 record. In their last battle, East Burke was toppled by McDowell (Marion, NC), 99-3, in a non-league battle.
