In Friday's non-league match, the host Alexander Central Cougars basketball team scored a tight 52-50 triumph over the Newton-Conover Red Devils.

In their next game, the Cougars meet the North Davidson Black Knights (Lexington, NC) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, December 12. Alexander Central will attempt to improve on its 3-2 season record. The Black Knights come into the challenge with a 5-1 record after their 60-54 non-league win over A.L. Brown (Kannapolis, NC).
