West Stanly Colts (Oakboro, NC) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host North Stanly Comets (New London, NC), 61-55 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, West Stanly upgrades its record to 4-9 on the campaign. The Colts travel to Parkwood (Monroe, NC) to play the Wolf Pack in a 2A/3A Conference 44 bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Wolf Pack come into the bout with a record of 11-3. Parkwood lost 59-48 in their recent non-league bout against Catawba Ridge (Fort Mill, SC)

Next up, the Comets play the Albemarle Bulldogs (Albemarle, NC) in a 1A/2A Conference 35 bout, on Friday, January 6. North Stanly will attempt to upgrade on its 8-6 season record. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a 4-6 record after their 58-38 non-league win over Central Academy (Monroe, NC).
