Laurel Spartans (Laurel, MD) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host High Point Eagles (Beltsville, MD), 45-39 in a league bout.

With the win, Laurel upgrades its record to 1-0 on the season. The Spartans travel to Great Mills (Great Mills, MD) to play the Hornets in a non-league bout on Monday, January 8. The Hornets go into the bout with a record of 1-0.

Next up, the Eagles play the Parkdale Panthers (Riverdale, MD) in a bout, on Tuesday, December 12. High Point will attempt to upgrade on its 0-2 season record.
