Metamora Redbirds (Metamora, IL) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Pekin Dragons (Pekin, IL), 53-41 in a league bout.

With the victory, Metamora upgrades its record to 23-2 on the campaign. The Redbirds travel to Peoria Notre Dame (Peoria, IL) to play the Irish in a non-league bout on Saturday, February 4. The Irish come into the bout with a record of 14-12. Peoria Notre Dame won 55-29 in their recent league bout against Centennial (Champaign, IL)

Next up, the Dragons play the Canton Little Giants (Canton, IL) in a Mid-Illini bout, on Saturday, February 4. Pekin will attempt to upgrade on its 10-14 season record.
