Sandia Matadors (Albuquerque, NM) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host West Mesa Mustangs (Albuquerque, NM), 63-51 in a league bout.

With the win, Sandia upgrades its record to 17-4 on the season. The Matadors travel to Farmington (Farmington, NM) to clash with the Scorpions in a 5A District 2 bout on Saturday, February 4. The Scorpions go into the bout with a record of 13-8. Farmington won 72-32 in their recent league bout against Piedra Vista (Farmington, NM)

Next up, the Mustangs clash with the La Cueva Bears (Albuquerque, NM) in a 5A District 2 bout, on Saturday, February 4. West Mesa will attempt to upgrade on its 15-6 season record. The Bears go into the bout with a 13-8 record after their 57-47 league win over Eldorado (Albuquerque, NM).
