The Kiski Area Cavaliers (Vandergrift, PA) basketball nipped the visiting Franklin Regional Panthers (Murrysville, PA), 44-40 in Wednesday's league test.

The Cavaliers (8-11) will now prepare for their test against Woodland Hills (Pittsburgh, PA). The Wolverines go into the WPIAL 5A 1 test with a 9-8 record. In their last test, Woodland Hills got by Penn Hills (Pittsburgh, PA), 48-26, in a league test.

The Panthers now own a 6-13 record. They play next when they travel to Gateway for a WPIAL 5A 1 test on Tuesday, February 7. Franklin Regional will encounter a Gators squad coming off a 49-40 non-league loss to Obama Academy of International Studies (Pittsburgh, PA). The Gators record now stands at 4-14.
