The Lordsburg Mavericks (Lordsburg, NM) basketball nipped the visiting Cloudcroft Bears (Cloudcroft, NM), 33-32 in Thursday's league test.
The Mavericks (5-12) will now prepare for their test against Mescalero Apache (Mescalero, NM). The Chiefs go into the 2A District 3 test with a 8-10 record. In their last test, Mescalero Apache got by Capitan (Capitan, NM), 45-40, in a league test.
The Bears now own a 4-11 record. They play next when they host Carrizozo for a non-league test on Saturday, February 3. Cloudcroft will encounter a Grizzlies squad coming off a 59-37 league win over Hondo Valley (Hondo, NM). The Grizzlies record now stands at 5-13.
