The Walker Valley Mustangs basketball team (Cleveland, TN), was nudged 75-69 in Thursday's league battle with the host McMinn County Cherokees (Athens, TN)
The Cherokees now possess a 8-11 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Chattanooga Central for a non-league battle on Thursday, February 1. McMinn County will confront a Pounders team coming off a 60-49 non-league win over Hixson (Hixson, TN). The Pounders record now stands at 13-11.
The Mustangs (15-9) will now prepare for their battle against Rhea County (Evensville, TN). The Golden Eagles come into the 4A District 5 battle with a 22-4 record. In their last battle, Rhea County edged Maryville Christian (Maryville, TN), 81-50, in a non-league contest.
