The East Union Eagles (Afton, IA) basketball nipped the host Diagonal Maroons (Diagonal, IA), 42-36 in Thursday's non-league test.

The Eagles (3-13) will now prepare for their test against Mount Ayr (Mount Ayr, IA). The Raiders go into the Pride of Iowa - West test with a 11-7 record. In their last test, Mount Ayr got by Central Decatur (Leon, IA), 60-26, in a non-league test.

The Maroons now own a 1-15 record. They play next when they host Essex for a non-league test on Monday, February 5. Diagonal will encounter a Trojans squad coming off a 36-33 non-league loss to East Mills (Malvern, IA). The Trojans record now stands at 4-14.
