Weslaco East Wildcats (Weslaco, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Porter Cowboys (Brownsville, TX), 65-40 in a league bout.

With the win, Weslaco East upgrades its record to 22-12 on the season. The Wildcats host Lopez (Brownsville, TX) to play the Lobos in a 5A Region IV District 32 bout on Tuesday, February 14. The Lobos go into the bout with a record of 24-9. Lopez won 51-37 in their recent league bout against Donna (Donna, TX)

Next up, the Cowboys play the Veterans Memorial Chargers (Brownsville, TX) in a 5A Region IV District 32 bout, on Tuesday, February 14. Porter will attempt to upgrade on its 9-22 season record. The Chargers go into the bout with a 20-12 record after their 58-43 league win over Harlingen South (Harlingen, TX).
