Saltillo Lions (Saltillo, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Union Hill Bulldogs (Gilmer, TX), 51-33 in a league bout.

With the win, Saltillo upgrades its record to 24-8 on the season. The Lions travel to Sulphur Bluff (Sulphur Bluff, TX) to play the Bears in a 1A Region III District 24 bout on Tuesday, February 14. The Bears go into the bout with a record of 18-15. Sulphur Bluff won 37-30 in their recent league bout against Union Hill (Gilmer, TX)

Next up, the Bulldogs play the Bloomburg Wildcats (Bloomburg, TX) in a 1A Region III District 24 bout, on Tuesday, February 14. Union Hill will attempt to upgrade on its 9-13 season record. The Wildcats go into the bout with a 0-18 record after their 79-39 league loss to Avinger (Avinger, TX).
