Mississippi High School Basketball - Quitman nips Newton County

February 10, 2023: Quitman, MS 39355

Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Quitman Panthers (Quitman, MS) and the visiting Newton County Cougars (Decatur, MS), saw Quitman's basketball squad hold off Newton County by a tally of 40-34.

With the victory, Quitman improves its record to 19-10 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Purvis (Purvis, MS) to play the Tornadoes in a non-league challenge on Monday, February 13. The Tornadoes come into the challenge with a record of 6-6.

Next up, the Cougars play the Columbia Wildcats (Columbia, MS) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, February 13. Newton County will attempt to improve on its 4-8 season record. The Wildcats come into the challenge with a 17-8 record after their 56-49 league loss to Lawrence County (Monticello, MS).
