In Monday's non-league match, the host Avery County Vikings basketball team scored a good 46-32 triumph over the Draughn Wildcats.

In their next game, the Vikings meet the Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC) in a non-league match, on Friday, February 17. Avery County will attempt to better on its 13-7 season record. The Mountaineers enter the match with a 16-3 record after their 54-47 non-league win over Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC).

With the defeat, Draughn moves to 6-12 on the year.
