George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Auburn Eagles (Riner, VA), 48-38 in a league bout.

With the victory, George Wythe upgrades its record to 17-5 on the campaign. The Maroons travel to Fort Chiswell (Max Meadows, VA) to play the Pioneers in a non-league bout on Saturday, February 18. The Pioneers come into the bout with a record of 17-7. Fort Chiswell won 62-40 in their recent league bout against Galax (Galax, VA)

Next up, the Eagles play the Galax Maroon Tide (Galax, VA) in a Mountain Empire bout, on Saturday, February 18. Auburn will attempt to upgrade on its 11-13 season record. The Maroon Tide come into the bout with a 14-10 record after their 62-40 league loss to Fort Chiswell (Max Meadows, VA).
