In Friday's non-league outing, the Mankato East Cougars (Mankato, MN) basketball squad felled the visiting Mayo Spartans (Rochester, MN), by a margin of 83-63.

The Cougars (21-1) will now prepare for their outing against Mankato West (Mankato, MN). The Scarlets go into the AAA Section 2 outing with a 17-6 record. In their last outing, Mankato West thwarted Winona (Winona, MN), 82-57, in a non-league outing.

The Spartans now own a 10-11 record. They play next when they travel to Century for a AAAA Section 1 outing on Tuesday, February 20. Mayo will encounter a Panthers squad coming off a 101-73 non-league win over Faribault (Faribault, MN). The Panthers record now stands at 15-7.
